Part 2: Guided Writing
Topic: Cell Phone Use in Taiwan
It has been reported that the number of cell phone users in Taiwan now exceeds 10 million people, nearly half the population. In terms of cell phone use in Asia, Taiwan ranks behind only Hong Kong and ahead of Singapore and Japan. Please discuss this topic regarding the use of cell phones in Taiwan and provide reasons to explain the rapidly increasing popularity of cell phones in Taiwan.
Since the invention of cell phones, their role in people’s everyday lives has become more and more significant. In particular, with the application technology coming into being and the increased importance being attached to cell phones’ design, these handy devices nowadays are just like an all- in-one magic personal assistance with a streamline, attractive appearance. With one of these pretty little things on hand, there is almost nothing you cannot accomplish: watch video, play games, take photos, shop online, etc., just name it. This, I think, is the main reason why cell phones become an indispensible part in Taiwanese everyday lives – they are convenient. Another reason for cell phones’ rapid increase is socially: people in Taiwan are always eager to be in, to be viewed as trendy. And one of the ways to achieve this goal is through possessing a cool cell phone like i-phone 4S. The possession of the fashion, smart phone brings them a sense of security that they do not fall out of the most in trend.
